Tamiyoi

As mentioned in a previous posting, this year I have decided to foster some elephants through the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, located in Kenya.

Tamiyoi was a well victim.  Elephants not only have to worry about poachers, but also the encroaching human communities into previously wild, open space.  Young elephants can easily fall into human built wells and become trapped.

For many months, the wildlife experts were not sure if Tamiyoi would survive; she often collapsed in the nursery.  But, thankfully now this small elephant is thriving and is a very popular member of the fostering program.
