National Geographic had a fascinating and sobering documentary on the ivory industry. “Warlords of Ivory” takes the viewers into the DNC, where firefights between ivory smugglers and rangers regularly occur. In one single year, ten percent of the elephant population were killed by poaching. Much of the money gets into the hands of Africa’s most notorious warlords and militias. As one man explains, the killing of elephants is only one part of the story – humans are killed too. The entire documentary is available for viewing on YouTube.
