The Academy Awards are in the headlines.  In 1941, Dumbo was released and became a Disney classic.  It won the Oscar for best score.

Everyone probably knows the plot, but it’s the charming little tale of an elephant with large ears who faces taunts.  His deformity ends up being one of his strengths – he can fly!

It reminds me of another famous mid-century story: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

The animation is brilliant, and the song “Baby Mine” is one of my favorites among Disney’s treasures.
