Elephant Polo

Thirty elephants trained to play polo competed in the 2017 King’s Cup on March 9 in Bangkok.

The polo match has occurred annually since 2001.

Donations from corporations and attendees went to conservation efforts.  Since 2001, the polo match has raised roughly 1.3 million dollars.

Although an interesting idea, I personally do not feel comfortable with elephants playing polo.  Yes, humans can train elephants and ride them.  But, elephants are not domesticated and to me, this seems more like a circus than a humane way to help raise money for conservation and elephants.
